Shift is the second book in the Silo trilogy by Hugh Howey. Also the second book I've read from this author and I might have fallen in love with this trilogy! Seriously though... If it was up to me, this great trilogy would have been made into a movie already!
The Blurb:
In a future less than fifty years away, the world is still as we know it.
Time continues to tick by.
The truth is that it is ticking away.
A powerful few know what lies ahead.
They are setting us on a path from which we can never return,
A path that will lead to destruction;
that will take us below ground.
The history of the silo is about to be written.
Our future is about to begin.
My Thoughts:
Finally finished it! Yey! Took me a while, but here we are at last. I loved Shift as much as I loved Wool. Even though there's different characters in this. Shift is about the life before the whole silo thing happened which also mean getting to know new people. It was great (and sad) to read about the beginning and how it all started and the reason. From the planning to the "attack" and the life behind the walls in silo 1 (which is the main silo) and a few other silos that's been destroyed over the decades. You also get to know what happened to Jimmy (aka Solo) from silo 17 in this book which was nice. I also want to say that one of the things that was happening in this book reminded me of Wayward Pines :P If you have read this book (and aslo seen Wayward Pines) you know what I mean ;)
Before I read Shift, one of my coworkers told me that the second book was about how it all started and that there would be different characters. With that in my mind, I wasn't disappointed when I started reading this book. Unlike when I was reading The Maze Runner series, I got to know about the characters more and more during the books and was used to read about them. So when I started on The Kill Order I couldn't continue, because the characters in that book was completely different than the ones that I knew. The whole thing got so weird that I stopped reading after few pages. But with Shift, I already knew it would be different from Wool. But that was OK, because I had only read one book about the characters and wasn't "emotionally invested" in them like I was with The Maze Runner. And also, my coworker told me about this :P
All in all, I'm glad that I bought this trilogy and am really excited to read the last and final book of Silo! Didn't help my excitement for the last book with that ending in Shift. So yeah.. looking forward to Dust and to see how it all ends!
Feels like this review is a mess, but I'm actually a bit stressed right now. Staring at the clock while writing this, knowing I have to go and get changed soon before heading for work. Taking the bus today so I have to leave bit early before it gets here!
So this is it. My review. And I have to go.
Bye! xx
5/5
